"Students studying the speech, language, and hearing sciences must gain a foundational understanding of the anatomical structures and physiological processes related to systems involved in communication and hearing, as well as how those structures and physiological processes are affected by disorders treated by speech-language pathologists (SLPs) and audiologists (AuDs). In particular, students will learn about the anatomy, physiology, and pathology of the nervous system; the respiratory system; the phonatory system; the articulatory/resonance system; and the auditory/vestibular system. Students will take a class which provides this foundational understanding. If these students are enrolled in SLP or AuD programs, they will go on from there to build their anatomical, physiological, and pathological knowledge of these systems by taking courses related to specific disorders within their scope of practice"--
